About the Artist

Chelsea Holmes is a soprano from the New York area currently residing in San Francisco, California. A versatile performer, she has appeared on the stages of concert halls, opera houses, jazz clubs, theatres, outdoor parks, boathouses, and rock quarries. Ms. Holmes earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music in Voice and Opera with an additional certificate in Musical Theatre from the University's Communication School and a Master of Music Degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Chelsea has a flexible instrument that can navigate many styles and genres. Her dynamic performances are informed by her theatre and dance background in addition to her years of musical training.

Her previous opera roles include Zerlina in Don Giovanni, The First Lady in The Magic Flute, Nella Donati in Gianni Schicchi , Peep Bo in The Mikado and Mrs. Jenks in Tenderland. Musical theatre credits include the Witch in into the Woods, Stephen Sondheim's Company, and Kurt Weil's Three Penny Opera. She also performed in concert with Broadway star, Patti Lupone. 

In addition to her career as a vocalist, Ms. Holmes works as a singer for Songs By Heart Foundation, connecting people with memory loss to the language and joy of music. She holds an arts administration position with world renowned ensemble, E4TT. Ms. Holmes has assistant stage director and choreographer credits for several productions including, Gianni Schicchi, The Magic Flute, Dance Works, Once on this Island and the Wizard of Oz. ​This spring, she will stage Rhoslyn Jones' studio scene concert at SFCM.
